Show Notes

Maverick by Ricardo Semler was a rallying cry in the late 1980’s for a style of leadership and management that is inclusive, participatory and built on a relationship of mutual respect and trust between leaders and employees.  This book (to my delight!) remains as relevant today as when it was written.  Semler has gone on to become management thinker and faculty member of a number of Ivy League schools (incl. Harvard who denied him entrance to the MBA on more than one occasion). His approach – risky and experimental at the time, yielded it’s fair share of problems, but ultimately paid off and created a sought-after work environment and an emblematic example of what work could (and should) look like.
