Show Notes

Susan Cain’s book Quiet is a profoundly important contribution and challenge to the age of personality that has usurped the age of character. With between a third and a half of the population being classified as introverts, it would seem a timely discussion to better understand how introverts function, contribute and can thrive in a world so obsessed with the Extrovert Ideal.  Cain’s book and TED talk (31 million views) is testimony (as if we needed it) to the vast population that often does not feel heard or seen because they don’t have a loud voice.  In this book, she takes the reader through the social, biological and even political history and nature of extroversion and introversion, peppering the narrative with her story (she is an introvert) and those of countless others. Given that you or someone you know or love (or both!) are probably an introvert – this book and podcast is definitely worth a read/listen.
